This Little Birdie Pincushion was one of the very first patterns I ever created and remains a cherished project on my blog. Over the years, I have gathered several handmade samples, and now it feels like the perfect moment to let these charming birdies find new homes. Because there are some variations in the design, this listing offers two distinct styles of Little Birdie pincushions. One style is filled with a combination of fiberfill and dry lentil beans or possibly plastic pellets, which provide weight to the pincushion and help the birdie sit firmly and gracefully on a flat surface. The other style is stuffed solely with fiberfill, giving the pincushion a soft, bouncy quality; however, this makes the bird a bit unstable on flat surfaces, causing it to tip over more easily. To help with this, pincushions filled only with fiberfill will be paired with a wooden ring that allows the bird to sit steadily and securely. Assorted fabrics were used to create these samples and range in types from 100% cotton new and vintage and cotton/linen blend. Mostly machine sewn with hand stitched accents.
