2025 Gifting Handmade Week 1 Recap + Giveaway 2

October 8, 2025

It’s been a spectacular first week of the Gifting Handmade - Maker’s Showcase where my talented team of testers make projects from my current Art Gallery Fabrics collections—15 collections are still in production and being sold to shops from my 2019 Spirited collection to the newest 2025 Midsummer collection. The fun twist of this event is that the team members participating in Gifting Handmade get to pick whatever project or pattern they want to make, rather than testing a pattern I have designed. Several of them are pattern designers themselves and have chosen to feature their own pattern—which it’s very exciting to introduce you to their designs. The only ‘rule’ is that they are to make their project from my fabrics—which I have supplied and sent to them for this event.

This is now my fourth year hosting the annual Gifting Handmade - Maker’s Showcase event. Many of the participating makers will be familiar to you, as they have generously tested patterns for me over the past several years. The event takes place on my blog, where I host weekly giveaways and share detailed recap posts. Additionally, each day during the event, on my Instagram account @sharonhollanddesigns I post the Maker Days where each team member is showcased with their gift-idea project .

THE GIFTING HANDMADE Week 1 Recap

DAY 1

Giveaway 1 was won by Erin Heinz (drawing was held on October 6th, see previous post)

DAY 2

AMANDA BAGIN

On DAY 2 of Gifting Handmade, Amanda Bagin of @quiltsbycritter on Instagram and Art by Critter for her Etsy shop, designed her new Best Pals Pouch pattern to launch during Gifting Handmade.

These super cute and useful Best Pals Pouches can nest inside each other, have a clear vinyl front so you can see what’s stored inside, and show off a pretty quilted backing.

This confident beginner pattern is sold as a PDF download from Amanda’s Etsy shop and comes with instructions to make the three sizes shown here.

-Small: 8" x 2.5" x 4.5"
-Medium: 10” x 3” x 6”
-Large: 12” x 3.5” x 8”

The samples were made with prints from my Art Gallery Fabrics Midsummer collection and are the perfect feminine prints for cosmetic pouches, sewing supplies, or anything in between! I personally love a gift that wraps its self and this one would be ideal for filling with goodies for an extra special surprise.

Learn more about the Best Pals Pouch and Amanda’s other patterns by visiting Amanda’s shop or instagram page.

Day 3

TERRI NEIL

On DAY 3 of the Gifting Handmade Maker’s Showcase, Terri Neil, the talented lady, owner, and long arm quilting artist of Quilting Rubies delighted us with Reversible Ric Rac Napkins.

Terri used all 16 prints from an Art Gallery Fabrics Midsummer fat quarter bundle to make 16” reversible napkins using the tutorial by Rope and Anchor Trading Company. There’s also a blog post on the Rope and Anchor Trading Company blog about making these Reversible Napkins, HERE. For the rickrack, Terri use a .5” size and found it to be the best size for this project and a very pretty accent to the cheerful prints!

Cloth napkins instantly elevate any meal and by making your own from premium cotton like Art Gallery Fabrics they are soft, absorbent, vibrant, and an affordable alternative to store bought or paper napkins that fill the landfills. Besides, you can choose the prints or colors that go with your decor or the decor of the one receiving the thoughtful handmade gift.

Learn more about these napkins and about Terri and her longarming business by visiting her Instagram page and her website. You can see her beautiful work on Instagram, HERE and on her Quilting Rubies website, HERE.

DAY 4

Mallory Smith

On DAY 4 Mallory Smith of Fieldstone Fabric launched her newest pattern, the Maggie Dog Bed—a great gift for any pet owner!

This intermediate level Maggie Dog Bed PDF Pattern teaches you how to make cording edging for the envelope opening-backed patchwork dog bed that measures 34” in diameter by 4” tall. Mallory used prints from an assortment of my collections for Art Gallery Fabrics: Kismet, Tumbleweed, and Listen to Your Heart along with AGF Pure Solids.

The addition of a spot to personalize the pet bed with an embroidery name makes this gift idea even more special for the recipient.

You can learn more about Mallory on Instagram @fieldstone.fabric or on her blog and shop her wonderful selection of fabrics in her Shop!

DAY 5

Marija Vujcic

On DAY 5 of Gifting Handmade, Marija Vujcic enchanted us with her new wallhanging pattern called, Joyful Trees. As with all of Marija’s patterns she invites you to play and infuses a world of possibilities into her designs.

Joyful Trees is a fun and easy to make wallhanging pattern with three dimensional Flying Geese blocks. You can make this wall hanging as a single tree wall quilt or multiple trees for a larger wall quilt that would have many pockets for your holiday cards or any small treasures. Make it for a gift or as a “tree” in a child’s room. The pattern comes with two layout/size options and the ways to use this wallhanging are numerous.

Find Joyful Trees pattern in Marija’s Etsy shop, HERE.

For this sample, Marija used prints from my Juniper collection for Art Gallery Fabrics. The free motion quilting was done by Marija.

Be sure to follow this talented lady on Instagram Marija Vujcic and on her blog at Mara Quilt Designs.

DAY 6

Tamara Darragh

For DAY 6, Tamara Darragh of Remi Vail Studio remade her Fold Fables Quilt in an assortment of Sharon Holland prints from Art Gallery Fabrics. The finished quilt is like a cozy holiday hug!

The Folk Fables quilt pattern is super-fast to cut, and the strip piecing is a breeze, making it a perfect gifting quilt. The entire quilt top is made from fat quarters—no extra fabric needed.

Tamara made the twin size Gifting Handmade version (66” x 88”) in a weekend. It requires at least 20 FQs for the twin size top. The additional FQs make the top extra scrappy and allow for additional blocks that can be sewn into the quilt backing or made into matching pillows or a fun tote, which Tamara has tutorials for on her blog, HERE and HERE. Blog tutorial for flange binding, HERE.

The following is a list of all the Fat Quarters that went into this kit but if want this same look but don’t want to source all the fabrics, you’re in luck because Tamara has KITS for this quilt in her Shop!!!

DAY 7

For DAY 7 of Gifting Handmade, Joyce Ulm showed off the perfect gift for any one on your list—the Gus Tool Bag and Mini Fabric Storage Bins that fit inside the tote.

The Gus Tool Bag pattern is by Indigobird designs is a handy tote to carry all your sewing, quilting & knitting supplies. Joyce made the large Gus Bag but the pattern also comes with a smaller bag option. This would be wonderful for a baby shower gift to hold diapers, bottles, toys and all the gear baby needs. Of course it is perfect for any crafter on your list or even for out in the garden, or an organizer tote for kids, and more!

The Mini Fabric Storage Bin pattern is also designed by Indigobird designs and is a free tutorial. The three bins fit perfectly in the large Gus Bag. All the samples were made from prints from my Willow collection for Art Gallery Fabrics.

Learn more about Joyce, the owner of Eva Maes Custom Quilts and sells handmade items as well as long arms quilts. Find Joyce on Instagram, HERE.

THE GIVEAWAYS

What an amazing first week of Gifting Handmade but the fun is not over with yet! To wrap up the first week (catch the pun, there?) we have a second giveaway for you to enter for a chance to win. One lucky winner will be randomly drawn from the comments pool on this blog post. Read on to learn more.

We have an all-star lineup of Sponsors for this year’s Gifting Handmade and this week I’ve bundle two sponsored prizes into the ultimate quilter’s dream prize of a quilt kit and batting!

Fieldstone Fabric

Mallory Smith of Fieldstone Fabric is generously giving our winner a Let It Shine Quilt Kit - designed by Mallory Smith of Fieldstone Fabric. The Quilt Kit includes: Pattern and fabrics for a 72” square throw size quilt top plus the binding The fabrics in the kit are all Pure Solids from Art Gallery Fabrics. Even if you don’t quilt but know of someone that does—this would be an amazing gift to give to a quilter.

Hobbs Batting

To make the quilt kit complete, Hobbs Batting is giving the winner a queen size batting in my new favorite batting for a cuddly winter quilt—Hobbs Tuscany Cotton/Wool blend batting. This batting quilts like a dream but is thicker than a traditional cotton batting so the stitch definition is wonderful and the drape and heft is scrumptious!
