DAY 8

SHARON HOLLAND

DAY 8 is the day I got in on the fun on with several small projects that could be combined as a set or given as individual gifts. I used a combination of prints from my Art Gallery Fabrics Midsummer, Bookish, and Shine On collections for the this mix and match Book Lover’s gift set.

All of the patterns I used are free patterns available as tutorials or patterns online. Here’s a resource list:

Journal Cover Pattern by (me) Sharon Holland Designs and from the Freebies page on this blog. I made custom size covers for a standard composition notebook and for a smaller hard cover journal.

The Pencil Pouch that slips around the journals was a free online tutorial by @casa.la.foret on Instagram and although the information is given in French, she includes subtitles with the dimensions for the pieces and shows you the step-by-step sewing to be able to understand.

The Gift Card Wallet is a You Tube video tutorial from Tender Smile Handmade and is very easy and fun to make. I used plastic KAM snaps for closure.

And, finally, the Drawstring Bag to “wrap” your gift set in for giving! This tutorial I found on Instagram by @cocetteandcocreations that makes the most-perfect, fully-lined drawstring bag that can be used over and over again beyond its original gift wrap use.

The zippers by the yard, cute enamel flower pulls, and Polyester Macrame Cord (used for the drawstring bags), “stitched” ribbon, and KAM Snaps were all purchased through Amazon (these are affiliate links).

DAY 9

MELISSA DAVID

On DAY 9 of the Gifting Handmade Maker’s Showcase, Melissa David of @quiltingabovetheclouds on Instagram charmed us with a beautiful patchwork table runner and matching placemats in prints from my Art Gallery Fabrics Midsummer and Fanciful blender collections.

The Posies Table Runner and Placemats pattern was designed by Robin Pickens.

Melissa notes that “The (4) ¾” x ¾” snowballs on each corner of the 1” finished dots are no joke! I loved the detailed piecing and unique block assembly of this project.” Melissa also made a flanged binding using one half of the AGF 2.5 Edition binding, using 1-1/4" width paired with a 1-1/2" -wide purple accent strip for a little pop of color.

This runner and placemat set would be beautiful any time of the year and is pieced all from patchwork pieces but you could always add some embroidery details to the flowers and leaves to take it over the top with pretty perfection!

DAY 10

SANDY SAENGSUK

On DAY 10 of the Gifting Handmade Maker’s Showcase, Sandy Saengsuk of @thaicharmllc on Instagram shows off how masterfully she mixes numerous prints into her quilts. Sandy used a 16-pc fat quarter of the Art Gallery Fabrics Midsummer quilting cottons in her Meadow Patch quilt.

This gorgeous Meadow Patch quilt by Sandy was originally written for a Layer Cake bundle, but she adapted the pattern to stitch up this version using a Midsummer fat quarter bundle. “It works beautifully as long as you’ve got the full 18" width in each fat quarter,” notes Sandy. Meadow Patch has always been her go-to pattern for its generous size and how quickly it comes together. It’s the kind of quilt you can whip up over a weekend, making it the perfect handmade gift for the holiday season (or any special occasion)!

DAY 11

MICHELLE CORLESS

On DAY 11, Michelle Corless launched the newest pattern in her Shop, called the Merry Mini Advent Quilt. Michelle used a mix of Art Gallery Fabrics blender prints from my Kismet, Shine On, and Fanciful collections plus an AGF Pure Solid. If you’re on Instagram, follow Michelle @compassandwildflower to see more of her beautiful quilts or learn more about her from her blog Compass and Wildflower and check out her pattern shop!

The finished size for the advent wallhanging is 21” square or optional 20” square pillow. This confident beginner pattern come with two versions: Cover Version and Simplified Version and holds 2 ½” circle advent cards (templates included plus a link to advent activity ideas)

You can finishing the advent calendar in two ways: Wall hanging (with a fabric hook) or a pillow/cushion. Instructions are included for both finishing styles along with modifications the can be made on the ornament pocket assembly.

The ornament pockets can be customized with embroidery, vinyl lettering with numbers, or left as-is for a random surprise each day. You can fussy cut your favorite prints to make each ornament unique. Shop the Merry Mini Advent Quilt pattern HERE.

DAY 12

TRACEY TABER-PERRY

On Day 12 of the Gifting Handmade Maker’s Showcase, Tracy Taber-Perry brought all the cozy cabin-vibes home with her table runner make in assorted fall prints from my Art Gallery Fabrics Juniper, Shine On, and Heirloom collections. This talented maker can be found on Instagram, HERE @ttabes80 to see more of her beautiful makes.

Tracey used the Stargrove pattern by Crafty Moose Quilts to make this beautiful 24” X 64”table runner that could adorn your table transition seamlessly from fall to winter. Tracey, however, is planning to use her creation as a bed runner, instead for a lighter-weight foot warmer and of course, it also makes a lovely accent statement piece.

At the time of this blog being published, Craft Moose Quilts (and fabric shop) has the Stargrove pattern on sale so grab yourself a copy now and make a runner or choose from several quilt size options.

DAY 13

MARY GOVE

For DAY 13 and our last of the maker days on the Gifting Handmade Showcase event, Mary Gove of @thecurlyquilter shows off her love of the natural world around her and creates the cutest foundation paper-pieced pillow that anyone would love to receive.

Mary purchased the @easypiecepatterns foundation paper-piecing Fox pattern from Easy Piece Patterns Etsy shop, HERE and made the 10” square fox block then added 4-1/2” borders around the FPP fox to end up with a lovely 18” square pillow with an envelope closure backing.

For the fabrics, Mary used assorted prints from my Spirited and Listen to Your Heart Collections for Art Gallery Fabrics plus AGF Pure Solids in Slate and Chocolate to create the most darling fox!
