Here’s a quilt pattern for all the Makers out there who use thread and needle to craft beautiful things. Last year, my Sew Together quilt pattern (in printed format) and quilt kits became available to shops through Art Gallery Fabrics (AGF) kits, bringing my designs to a wider audience. This was my second collection to feature an exclusive AGF quilt kit showcasing one of my fabric collections.
The Midsummer fabric collection for Art Gallery Fabrics and my Aurifil Midsummer Stitching thread set were the inspiration behind the beginner-friendly quilt design.
I did a quick online search for shops carrying the Sew Together quilt kit in the Midsummer collection and have compiled a list of the top online hits:
The printed pattern is sold individually and is included in the kits, and was the only option until now for getting this pattern. Please note that if you have a printed paper version of the pattern there has been a correction to the pattern and you can find the changes for the Sew Together pattern on my CORRECTIONS page.
Since the kits and printed patterns were released over six months ago, I can now offer an updated PDF version on my website SHOP page.
This throw quilt, especially with the retro dandelion floral background, has a playful vintage style that brings a cheerful, nostalgic charm and a touch of whimsy to your home. It would make an especially sweet Mother’s Day gift for the woman who inspired your love of sewing and creativity.
The Test Quilts
Before there was a cover quilt and a pattern, there were test quilts. Almost exactly a year ago I was cutting out Sew Together pieces from my Potager collection from Art Gallery Fabrics to create a test version.
For this sample, I used the Delicate Balance linen blend from the Potager collection as the background.
I had both my test quilt and the cover quilt long arm quilted by Joyce Ulm of Eva Mae’s Custom Quilts in the same loopy lines and flower quilting design and both quilts use Hobbs Batting Tuscany Cotton/Wool batting inside for a traditional drape and feel.
This is one of those kind of quilt patterns that it’s hard to go wrong with picking fabrics and would also be an ideal scrap quilt to use up those left over fabrics from other projects.
The 60-1/2” x 66-1/2” size of this quilt makes this the perfect throw size. The pattern only comes in the one size option and the PDF format pattern is priced at a budget-friendly price in my SHOP.
I always love it when my Testers test one of my patterns because it gives me another perspective of how my quilts look through the eyes of another maker. Joyce Ulm, who had quilted my two quilt, also tested this pattern for me and here’s her pretty version using a selection of prints from Art Gallery Fabrics.
Joyce’s work is consistently flawless, and she also does the long arm quilting on all of her quilts, always selecting the perfect pantograph design that complements her pieces perfectly. You can see more of Joyce’s work on Instagram @evamaescustomquilts, Etsy shop, and on her Facebook blog HERE. You can commission your quilts to be long armed by Joyce. I have used her services many times to quilt my own quilts, and she is always wonderful to work with! Her skill and attention to detail ensure that each quilt turns out beautifully.
You may have noticed there are small spools and large spool blocks in this quilt and they are turned to create a dynamic movement and energy to the quilt design. I love that Joyce incorporated sewing themed prints into her quilt and used the signature Aurifuil orange spools!
Simply stunning — an absolutely gorgeous, eye-catching piece and the perfect Maker’s quilt for showcasing skill and creativity.
